Chimonanthus praecox

Chimonanthus praecox are deciduous small trees belonging to the genus Chimonanthus of the family Calycanthaceae.

 

They are called "Roubai(蠟梅)"in Japanese because they look like waxworks,"Rouzaiku(蠟細工)" in Japanese,and their smells are also similiar to Japanese plums,"Ume(梅)" in Japanese.

They grow to 2-4 meters in height.Their aromatic flowers are yellow and tell us the coming of spring.
