Balloon flower 

Balloon flowers are the perennial herbaceous plants belonging to the genus Platycodon of the family Campanulaceae.

Their flowers are star-shaped and purple.They have been familiar to Japanese people as the autumn flowers since a long time ago. For example,they were called in Manyoshu(the first major anthology of early Japanese poetry).
